Over his more than 20-year career in commercial real estate, third-generation Las Vegan Robert Torres has become one of Southern Nevada’s top experts in land assemblage and sales, taking part in deals collectively worth more than $1 billion dollars. Torres spent 21 years with Colliers International, the third largest commercial real estate firm in the world, and today leads his own team as president of GKT Group.

In his current role, Torres manages GKT Group’s portfolio, which consists of thousands of acres of vacant land around Southern and Central Nevada, as well as investment properties throughout Southern and Central Nevada. He represents clients seeking to buy or sell land with the highest earning potential and in the most sought-after locations, whether for speculation, investment or development.

Inspired by longtime colleagues at Colliers International, Torres developed a sense of community and what it truly means to be a Las Vegan by giving time and talent to area non-profit organizations. Since 2006, Torres has been a board member for Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada, where he served as board chair from 2016 to 2018. Crediting much of his success to fellow Candlelighters Board Member Lisa Santwer, Torres says her mentorship propelled him to succeed not only in his career, but also his volunteer and leadership work. One of Torres’s greatest achievements with the Candlelighters includes starting the first Camp Firefly in 2005. Now called Camp Independent Firefly, this medically supervised camp for children affected by cancer and their siblings serves more than 100 children and recruits hundreds of volunteers each year.   

In 2008, Torres was honored as one of Las Vegas’ Top 10 Rising Stars and, in 2014, Vegas Inc. named him one of the “Top 40 under 40” honorees. In addition to his commitment to Candlelighters, he actively volunteers and donates to Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada and Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. He maintains membership in NAIOP, North America’s largest and most prestigious commercial real estate association, and membership in CCIM Institute, commercial real estate’s global standard for professional achievement. Torres currently serves as the curriculum chair for the class of 2020 for Leadership Las Vegas, the city’s premier leadership development program.
